you could try running a positive wire straight to the fuel pump. if that makes it start and run the i would put it on a toggle switch. if it don't start i would think about mabe replacing the fuel filter.

I would check the auto shutdown relay and if you have one the fuel pump relay. You might also want to check the fuel pump fuse.

Shut down relay is on the drivers side inner fender. It should be the second one from the front of 3 or 4 that are there right under the hood spring. The fuse is in the fuse block and should be labeled. I am not sure whether your year has a fuel pump relay as some do and some don't.

All 3 of the things I mentioned control whether the fuel pump works or not, so yes the truck will run on an alternate fuel supply.

Fuses are under the steering column behind a panel with 4 screws. Shut down relay is on the drivers side inner fender. It should be the second one from the front of 3 or 4 that are there right under the hood spring. The fuse is in the fuse block and should be labeled. I am not sure whether your year has a fuel pump relay as some do and some don't.

The relay should have continuity between terminals 85 & 86. Terminals 30 & 87 should be open. Be sure you have power at the relay plug. Power to pin 30 with key off and power to pins 30 & 86 with key on. If you apply power to 85 and ground 86 on the relay you should here it click when it energizes.
