Default negative battery cable

My negative battery cable is bad and a friend gave me a new one its a little heavier than the original one my truck . My truck is a 1989 Dodge ram 50 4X4 with a four cylinder 2.6 lt engine . Will it make a difference if its a little heavier? thanks for any help

Will probably be better and last longer than the original due to the heavier gauge. There would be issues in question if you went with a smaller than original cable though.
