looking to buy...help me out!
i'm possibly looking at an 87 Dodge ram with a slant 6...it is leaking a little fluid, but has a good interior and body...i've never really liked dodge till here recently and have really been getting into these 1st gen rams for some reason...what are the things i should check and look for...you know the normal things that usually need fixing? thanks for any help you can provide!

The slant 6 is pretty much an indestructable engine. Just make sure that you check the compression on the engine and that you check the tranny. Don't expect the ac to work and be prepared to change the carb. I had to do all of that on my old 82 d150 I bought in 92. I kept it until 02 and its still running today.

Rust problems is above the rear wheel wells especially if have molding and the cab corners. Check out the frame. Most of the trucks are missing jacks, manuals and sometimes the spare tires. If you can pull up the carpet/mat and check the floor. Check the fluids. Check out a place called cliffards 6=8 they are for slant 6 with v-8 power place. Also make sure the climate control works(mine the connector had rotted off) and the wipers. If get it may want to take off the cowl and loosen the bottom if front fenders to clean out any dirt, leaves etc.Good luck
