Default 1st Gen Ram seating options?

I've got my 91 D-150 running and driving, and it's great so far except for the crappy, broken down stock bench seat in it. It's a stock regular cab, not an x-cab, so my options are probably limited. Anybody find a seat that will fit in there with a minimum of hassle and that fits and sits nice? It would be nice to have a fold down center armrest, but that's not a deal breaker. I have to take this thing on a trip in a couple of weeks, and with the way it sits now (the outer edge of the seat is totally broken down) I'll be going to the chiropractor for two months after I get back after sitting in it for 16 hours.
I had a 90 Ford F-150, it had a halfway decent seat with a center armrest- anybody try a cross make swap with maybe a Chevy or Ford seat in one of these?

I've never seen it done, but I do hear of a lot of guys getting the bucket seats out of a ramcharger and putting them in. Although, I'd still think there'd be some extra drilling and all that, but you might check into it.

The Ramcharger seats fit for the most part. I think you have to drill a few holes to get them to bolt down.

Problem is... you just don't see Ramchargers being parted or in the junkyards anymore.

I'm just going to put some cheap Summit/APC race buckets in. About $150 each and damn comfortable!

That sounds sort of fun. I wonder how hard it would be.

I've pondered the same thing. My seat is not broken down, it just sits straight up and is hard. I've thought that the front seats out of a mid 90's caravan would be great. I had a 96 caravan le and it had about the best seats I've ever sat in.

Default Seating options

Well, I tried a couple things that I had laying here and neither worked....first was a set of Lincoln leather seats, they fit in fine but then I couldn't fit in! I also had a couple of new buckets from a van that went through the convertor, too tall, it would have taken a complete rework on the bases and even then I had my doubts. So the original seat is still in place, and unfortunately for as well as this truck runs and drives, it's gonna get sold for a club cab/super cab real quick, I don't have a chiropractor on retainer

I know what you mean. I've thought about jacking the front up and inserting a couple of flat washers under it to get it to lean back a little. Anything might help.

i don't know why people would want to change the bench seat with anything else. i find the stock bench seat fairly comfortable. i could sit in my truck for hours unlike my dads ford. i think my dad needs to install a bench seat from a dodge.

Uh, the truck I sold when I got the D150 was a 90 F-150 with a bench with a fold down armrest. It wasn't a 12 hour truck by any means, but it was WAY better than the Dodge. I even considered looking for a Ford seat for the Dodge, but instead I solved my problem another way....I picked up a 92 Dakota 4x4 club cab with a 5.2 automatic that I'm going to move into, I had a similar Dak before that was way comfortable. If it had had the 5.2 instead of the 3.9 I probably would have never gotten rid of it, but the 3.9 just didn't have the guts to do what I was asking it to do.
