HELP! Fuel Pump probs on 93 w150
Need some help here. My '93 W150 (5.2L V-8 318 Carborated) stalled out the other day. Wanted to start but no go. Tapped the fuel tank below pump a couple times and she fired up and ran a short distance before stalling out again. We replaced the fuel filter and again, she ran a short distance before stalling out again.
Pulled the fuel tank inspected the pump, looked good. Bucket tested the pump and it pumped. sealed the system and now the pump is not runnung once again.
By "sealing the system" I mean we equipped a 5 gal bucket with lid cut out to accommodate fuel pump, connected hoses into system, used ignition to attempt to start fuel pump.
That's where we are right now... is there a fuel pump relay somewhere I should be looking for, and if so... where is it?
Hate to drop $180.00 on a new pump if that's not the problem. and why should tapping the tank below the pump have worked?
The fuel sock was dirty but not excessivly so.
Any ideas? I need my truck running or I'm a real cranky girl!
No truck=No work=No money honey!
Thanks!

An in tank pump with a carburetor instead of MPFI in a 93? Since your vehicle is not stock I can't be sure of what is there but the in tank fuel pump that was used with the MPFI system in the 93 had a fuel pump relay on the inside of the drivers fender just under the hood spring. It should be the most forward of the relays that are there.
