86 W350 Doesn't start/starts then stalls/runs fine???

Default 86 W350 Doesn't start/starts then stalls/runs fine???

Runs fine usually
Starts right up
Plows fine
Seems when it is wet doesn't get spark
Fuel is always there
New cap, rotor, wires, Coil (2 yrs old)
Any suggestions
Suddenly all is fine
Under cap is dry
New plugs
Any help appreciated

that is a typical dodge problem. sometimes when the ballast gets wet it cause this problem.

Looks like no ballast in this vehicle
Does this mean a bad coil?

81-87 a single ballast resistor was standard equipment but is your truck original equipment?

actually there was also a computerized system in 86 that did not have ballast resister.

I didn't know that. For future reference what type engine control system is that because it doesn't show in any of my books?

i looked for a ballast on the firewall - waiting for my haynes book to help with troubleshooting - any idea's? if it is electronic?

Trouble shooting a system when we don't know what engine control system you have is difficult at best. Where is your control module located? What is written on it? How many pins are in the connecter? Describe the pin configuration in the connecter. Some ballast resistors are on the fender. Broken insulation in the engine wiring system can cause this if it is only happening when excess moisture is present.

it is carburated with electric spark control i think. the control module is located behind the battery just like every other truck. i took of the picture of the one i have.

My mistake - found the resistor on the fire wall behind wiring.
Tool resistance on the coil - primary was 2.3 ohms, 2ndary was 14.1 k ohms - does this sound too high?
Check out the attached pics - was is the that on the firewall above the coil, what is that by itself on the sidewall, what is that beside the the gold unit above the orange wire nut
