1990 Ram 360 auto
Hello,
I have a 1990 360 v8 4x4 king cab full bed ram that I'm trying to get going for the road (haven't got there yet) bought it almost a year ago for 350 bucks, got a lot done to the underneath, the frame was amazing, had only 119xxxkm on it but sat for 4 yrs. Everything seems to be working good, I just have to do a little body work on it yet, alignment and do some fine tuning. I would like to run synthetic, and I want to change the plugs and wires, and was wondering what people found the best in terms of running their slightly aged Dodge Rams when it comes to plugs and wires? It takes a second turn over for it to start so that's why I was wondering.
Also a quick question, my mechanic said to turn to a standard, would be difficult, because it come automatic from the factory, the part that goes from your transmission to your engine, said that the manuals are longer than the automatic ones, and I would have to go take the engine out of the truck and get it machined, is this true? I know the other things that are involved when changing over to manual, like the pedals, linkages, shifter etc.. just would like to know if what he is saying is accurate.
Thanks everyone for your help, its muchly appreciated,
Becky

I put Champion copper cores and Bosch premium plug wires on my 318, seem to work good. Only problem is the wires don't go in the distributor as snug as the stock ones, so maybe some Mopar wires would be better. As for the transmission, I don't know.
