Default hood latch interchangeability

Hey all, I need a replacement hood latch for my 79 D100. I have found one from a 75 D100, does anyone know if they are the same?

The 75 part number is 345774

Mmmmm, okay. Since no one is able to answer the part number question, let's try this. Did the 79 D100 come with a remote cable for the hood latch, or was it the reach through the grill type?

It does not, no cable, no remnants of where a cable had been, no nothing. Thus my confusion.

The guy I bought the truck from was a "horse trader" so he knew nothing about the truck, he had just taken it in trade for a tractor or some such.

The only way we got the hood open was lots of fiddling with a long thin screwdriver until I found the right spot on the latch to push. All this done through the front grill.

So I guess it's supposed to have the cable, I'll need to figure out how it was supposed to be connected and routed into the cabin. I'm sure I can route it through one of my rust holes!!!!
