Tire Pressures
I have a 1984 D100, running 235/75 R15 tires on the stock rims. the tires are all the same type (Goodyear Wranglers), yet they disagree with what the reccommended inflation pressure. I asked a mechanic, and he told me to look in the operator's manual. Well, 26 years is a good long time for that manual to get lost, as mine has. does anyone know the right pressures, or have an operator's manual for this truck?
thanks.
thanks.
No owners manual here, just some experience. Depending on what ply rating the tires are and how you heavily you load the truck the starting pressure should be between 32 and 35 lbs. These are starting pressures and you will need to adjust to your needs.
I never understood how you figured out the proper tire pressure when you have non-stock sized tires.
The pressure ratings in the manual/door jam are for stock sized tires.
The pressure rating on the side of the tires is the max pressure when cold.
How the heck do you figure out what you should have? Just spray paint a line on the tire and see how it wears? lol

Chalk will do fine and is quicker than paint. Just roll it back and forth and look at the chalk pattern. Afjust pressure and rechalk, roll back and forth again until chalk pattern is even across tire tread.

yeah, hey... I knew about that trick for race tires, but just never associated it to street tires... thanks, I'mma try that.
Still, if anyone can fill me in on the factory reccommendations, I'm purely curious now.
