newer V8
im thinking about swapping the 6 in my 82 truck for a newer 5.9L
out of a full size or dakota with 5spd
my question is did dodge change the blocks if not i should just have to get motor mounts for a truck of the same year as mine and it should bolt right in
i know ill need wiring harness and ecu for the motor
im just thinking ill have an 82 with fuel injection and a 5spd it should be really nice for daily driving

It is possible to swap a magnum into LA mounts as the magnums have the LA mounts. Good luck finding a 5.9L gas with a 5-speed NV4500. They are super rare and only in 2500s and up. Expect to pay a premium for the manual, NV4500s are no where near cheap. You may be able to get one out a chevy if you can source a bellhousing for the sb crysler.
You are not gaining much power wise by going magnum as they are not all that powerful. I would just get an LA block and build the motor. You could throw an A727 or go to an A518 (46RH) to get OD.

my dodge is a 1993 1/2 ton with a magnum 5.9L (factory) it uses the older LA style motor mounts, i would think that the magnum 5.2L they put in first gens would also use the LA style motor mounts (don't Know for sure) so i would think if you got a 91-93 5.2L or a 93 5.9L and all the under hood wiring and computer it should bolt right in, i don't know about the trany tho, the best thing to do would be to find a first gen that's rusted out with a v8 and just swap over everything you need but i just wanted to tell you that dodge DID put a magnum 5.9L in a first gen (I own one lol) and let me tell you in a 2wd truck they haul *** lol so its worth the work trust me
the wiring in the cab would have to be redone or replaced because in 82 they had a 40 way disconnect and sometime before 86 they changed to 50 way disconect so it will not just plug and play as far as wiring and computer goes.

That is still a 5.9L magnum so it is the same motor we are talking about. That was the last year the 5.9L was used.
