Default Body Parts Interchange

I have a 1979 Power Wagon. The cab area has some major rust areas. I am wondering if a later model cab will work. Also If anyone knows if the 3/4 ton cabs are the same??

i don't think they did any major changes to the cabs on these trucks till 93. the cabs all look very similar.

A quick call to the local junk yard will answer your question. They know what bodies are interchangeable.

The local junkyards have no ideas? I'm wondering if a 3/4 ton/ 250 will be the same as a 1/2 ton/ 150? Anybody Know????

I'm almost positive all the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton body parts are the same.

1/2 ton and 3/4 ton are the same, yes, but only till 1987. 1988 changed a ton of stuff when they went fuel injection... TRUST ME. I swapped an 88 body onto an 84 chassis and it was AWFUL!

Default body/cab mount bolts

O.K. I picked up a '87 cab. Only problem is the cab mount bolts are not the same. My '79 has a bolt that goes in from inside the cab. The '87 needs a bolt to go in from the bottom to screw into the cab. Anybody know what thread pitch this is. I've tried 1/2" and 7/16". The 7/16" will thread in with a lot of slack.

I think you will find the body lines on the 79 are different from the 87. The style changed in 1981 and was the same thru 1993. the older style was the same from 1972 thru 1980. I have a 91 ram 4x4 club cab and a 92 diesel 4x4 club cab as well as a 78 and a 79 Warlock and a 77 clubcab 4x4. the body for the 1/2 and 3/4 are the same except for the style. All of my trucks have bolts thru the cab with washers and the cab mount donuts with nuts on the bottom, so I am not sure what size thread you have. Have you tried metric?

I am looking for a rust free 81 to 85 club cab cab for a truck I am working on, a total floor rust ou as well as up the sides.

Good luck on your project.
