Default what model carb 88 dodge ram d100 w/ 318

Has holley carb with near as I can tell list number 4307852 and the number 1588 just below it....this is stamped at the top of the carb, near the intake lip - on the "driver's side" of the carb, if you will. Also, there is "R 3361 B" stamped on the side where "Holley" is stamped - on the side of the carb facing the front grill.

Again, I am trying to determine what model carb I have, so I can use my Haynes manual info....they only reference by model number.

It IS a Throttle Body Injection (TBI) carb....initially, I just want to know how to set the idle speed on the engine.....

Thanks, Mike

There is no carb it is called a throttle body. The I in TBI means the 2 injectors are housed inside the throttle body itself. The normal idle is controlled by the SMEC (computer) and is not manually adjustable. What is adjustable is the minimum idle speed if you have the proper equipment. If the engine is not stalling out at idle I would not worry about this setting. I have had my truck for over 20 years and have not had to mess with this setting. To set the minimum idle you need an electronic box called an ATM or equivalent that tricks the ISC actuator into a closed position or into actuator test mode. This is not something the normal shade tree mechanic will have.

I was trying to set the timing @ 700 RPM - mine is idling anywhere between 700 and 900 RPM......the timing is close as it is, so I guess I will just leave it alone....wish I could get the RPM at idle to stop changing!!! thx, mike

Surging idle could be a symptom of injector problems. Have you looked at the injector spray pattern?

Just remove the air cleaner top and look down into the TBI. You should see a fine mist in the shape of a cone at the bottom of each injector. There should be no gaps and no streams and the cones should reach the sides of the TBI throats.

I'll try that tonight - I assume that has to be done w/ the engine running. Spent about 3 hours last night replacing the (4) plastic bushings in the windshield wiper linkage - that included 2 trips to Autozone - buyer beware! The "10 piece kit" only contains 2 bushings for the 88 Dodge Ram D100 - make sure to buy 2 kits!!!

I too am having this same issue, so I am hoping a removal and a good cleaning, and a kit will help.
