Default 86 dodge ram won't start

I have a 1986 dodge ram that hasn't been used in a couple years. The key turns to freely and nothing happens at all when you turn it. What could the problem be?

This is blatantly obvious but did you put a new battery in it?

Test light or a meter. If you're not getting anything at the starter you may need a new ignition switch
