Default Help

88 Dodge w250 360, 600cfm Holley, Weind xcellorator, new time set, heads cleaned and new seals light port, stock exhaust manis, new Cam.

The new cam I purchased from a known good machineist. It was for a 318 rv grind with a regrind slightly taller and less duration out of a machine shop in Tacoma. I had him re measure the cam and I was told all good.
Installed with new sealed power lifters. Greased up but not soaked or pre pumped. Re install and it wont start. Have great spark. Lined up the time marks with #1 right at tdc. Re checked on compression #1 rotor pointing right at #1. Almost starts but never gets going. Good fuel. Any ideas?

I will pull the valve covers tomorrow and look at the rockers during rotation. Next I guess it's rip the front off the negine again to double check the time set. Then if that isn't it I purchase a aftermarket cam lifter set and reassemble. Dang.

Yeah and it backfires TDC puts the rotor pointing into the fire wall.

did it back fire through the carb or out the exhaust. the your crank turns twice for ever 1 rotation of the cam so it could be point at the firewall even though it would be at TDC

Ive been working on this truck for the past 2 weeks and it should start. Taking into consideration what your saying. I could use a starting point and path to get back on track.

I can't remember all the backfire directions. I believe that when the rotor was pointing backwards it came out the carb. Although I did have some out the exhaust pops too.
