My understanding is that all engines went to TBI in 88 but I am always willing to learn something new.
I will have to charge the battery and see if I can get it to turn over. It has a carb, I checked.

I have the battery charging now. I hope it will start. If it doesn't what should I check next? Since it is not fuel injected is the only filter on the hose right before it goes into the carb?

Added coolant, have not have a chance to do an oil change. I would like to get it started before I change the oil.

I charged the battery. Open the door to start the truck light came on. Tried to start and nothing. I'm not sure if it's a bad battery or something else. Could it be a bad alternator and that was why the truck was having problems starting before and why it wouldn't run unless I was giving it gas and then eventually wouldn't start again. Or maybe it's the starter or ignition switch since I'm not getting anything once I turn the key.

Since my power steering box is leaking, is it worth getting a rebuild kit? I see Autozone has one for $13.

It's not doing anything. I have not checked the spark plugs. I figured since I'm not getting anything it would be either the batter, starter or alternator. Possibly both. The oil level was fine. It does need an oil change though. I'll change the oil once I get it started.

i would try removing all your spark plugs then try turning the engine over. if the engine does not turn over then your starter might be dead or your engine is seized.
