i know someone who has a fairly new ford and his alternator failed and it blew the top off his battery.

I would not wait for the snow to leave. If you had ever seen a battery explode, you would not wait either.

Truck is parked until after the snow leaves, lost my garage in the divorce, its cold outside!

it should not even take 5 minutes to check the voltage at the battery with the truck running. if you are waiting for the snow to leave you might be waiting for a while. i don't have a garage but i work on my truck even if it is freezing cold. i have spent hours working on my truck in the freezing cold.

If it's only gonna take a few minutes it's with doing it now, idk where you live but they say ct might see up to 17 inches in the next couple days, and he'll iv changed a tranny in the middle of a blizzard. (needed to be done on site at work)

I didn't know you could afford to be without the truck until the snow melts. What I thought I was hearing from you is that you were continuing to drive it and I was concerned for the safety of you and others. I also would wait for better weather conditions if I didn't need the truck. We all have our priorities.
