'91 D150 no spark
I think you have some wiring issues. 8 volts at #1 on the 1991 is OK. You either have a bad wire to the #2 or #3 connector or the coil is bad. One wire is a common ground that is shared by all of the sensors and the other goes to pin 24 on the 60 pin connector on the computer.
Have you tested the coil for a ground from the case to all of the terminals? The ohms reading should be infinite.
And by the way thanks. Your truck is now driving me crazy too.LOL
Has this engine ever run properly since you owned it? Just curious.

Yeah the truck would start up and run perfect for abt 10min. That was the initial problem. It ran good no miss or anything. Ima go ahead and follow those wires back and see if I have a bad one. So as long as I have voltage and signal to the coil it should arc right?
Your battery voltage goes thru the ASD directly to the coils positive lead. If the battery voltage and the positive lead are different voltages you may have dirty contacts in the ASD relay and therefore are not getting enough amperage to fire the coil properly.

K I did it and same thing. I have to be missing something. A coil just needs voltage and ground right? So shouldn't I be able to just put 12 volts to pos. And hit it with a ground to make it arc.? I'm still learning and tryin to take all this in. Thanks again.
I would put 12 volts to the coil + and then run this test. Use a jumper wire from terminal #2 to #3 at the distributor connector. Turn the key to run and hold the coil wire about a 1/4 inch from a good ground. Break and make the connection at #2 or #3 several times with the jumper. You should get a good spark at the coil wire to ground. I am not positive if the coil will fire by grounding the negative terminal because I have never tried it. Theoretically it seems that that would work though.

K I did that test with the jumper wire and straight 12volts to pos.....still same thing. no spark. it didn't do anything when grounding it out either. the coil produces its energy internally correct.?
you should not get a spark when you have 12volts at the coil but you should get a good spark when you take the 12 volts away. i build a spark plug tester using a battery pack, coil, spark wire and a ground wire and it would not fire till i took the 12 away
