Yeah LOL, I often wonder whats worse for the environment, less emmisions or more hp (less fuel consumption)

from what i have heard the amount of pollution made creating 1 car is more than any older vehicle would create in its lifetime. with how much point less plastic parts that are installed on a lot of newer vehicles i could believe it.

i think they put all that plastic there so they could charge you more money when they service your vehicle. i know the local dealership charges $95/h so it would probably cost you about $40 just for them to remove and re-install the plastic.

so i could just put different piston and crank with a bigger cam and increase the comression. and de-smog it and that should improve horsepower and mpg? also i could just go to a junkyard and find a bb 4 spd that bolt up right in place of the old one?

i don't think you would need a different crank but a better cam and some head work could definitely increase the power.

If I remember right the last 440's were rated at 245 HP.

Yeah but the last 440's were made in the early 80s!

And if you can find a BB 4 speed in the junkyard I would be amazed lol

According to Allpar the 1977 440 had 195 HP and the last 440 was produced in August 1978.
