1986 W350 4x4 --> GVWR ???
Anyone know what the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) is on a 86 W350 4x4??? I need to know what the max payload capacity for the vehicle is per manufacture specs for the DOT office. I have tried google searches, but found no info on this so far and the dealer couldnt help me as the records dont go back that far on the GVWR on the trucks...Anyone got an actual spec book on this or someplace that I can get a copy of verifiable proof for the DOT office?
PS:-> I'm also looking for the GVWR of the 1985 too, but I'm betting that it will be the same.
~Thanks

I believe it's the 4th digit in the VIN.
GVWR:
D= 0001-3000
E= 3001-4000
F= 4001-5000
G= 5001-6000
H= 6001-7000
J= 7001-8000
K= 8001-9000
L= 9001-10,000
M= 10,001-14,000
Chilton's and manual both show the same.

SixGun's chart is correct if you are looking for a range. I don't know if the DOT will accept a range. If you want specifics the door jamb is still the best source and DOT can't argue with it.
