Default rev limit

wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to remove the rev limiter on these trucks. or if someone has an automatic does it not let you rev past 2400rpm in neutral?

Hey 92w150ram,

You should probably continue with the same thread in the future so that they can see the transition and not confuse people. Save you a lot of back-tracking.

Wontacceptthis this is his previous thread:

These early computers are vehicle specific and were not meant to be reflashable like todays models. If the numbers don't match exactly they are not interchangeable. 92w150ram is finding this out the hard way thru his wallet. We have been PMing about it and the computer is now throwing codes because of the different systems. He tried a 1991 in his 1992. This can't work mainly because in 91 the trucks used a hall effect switch and in 92 a camshaft position sensor was used. As we all know there are a variety of different set ups in these trucks and each setup gives and receives specific info to and from the computer.

His original problem was the voltage regulation portion of the computer crapped out. I believe he could get away with disconnecting the alternator field wire from the computer and installing a simple regulator in its place. This would be much cheaper than replacing the computer itself.

My hope here as always is that others may read this and not make the same mistake and waste their money.

so i cut the tach wire, gave the transmission pulse and temp wire voltage from the 5v output wire and switched the tps wire with a unused slot and now it seems to run better and the rev limit is gone. id still like to get another computer but this will do for now.
