90 Ramcharger Cold air intake?

Default 90 Ramcharger Cold air intake?

So i have an open air element sitting on top of the throttle body (k&N), it seems to me unless you have an induction hood that this will suck in hot air, no? I was thinking of cutting a stock airbox to work as a heatsheild...using the existing fresh air pipe and running another pipe to the intake, and still leaving it partially open. OR, i can make a CAI with some 3.5" pipe and position a cone filter in front of the rad....any thoughts?

i was gonna make a daul intake, running pipe to the frame getting fresh air, but your idea is pretty good too
