Do you have a schematic for the identification of the pins on the computer and what voltages are supposed to be at each pin? How many connectors are on your computer and how many pins are in each connector? Do you have an ASD relay?

I have the comp in the fender with 2 plugs and the vac line. The only schematic I can find is for the comp on the air cleaner with 1 plug. I wonder if the comp I got is no good? I'm about to give up and take it somewhere that might have better luck than me. I have a guy that said he can change it to a points type system, but I'd rather get it going the way it is since I've already spent so much on all the new parts.

if you can find a parts vehicle to get the parts off of you could switch too a way simple ignition system. the system you have can be such a pain in the @ss from what i have been told. you don't have to pull these parts off a truck. you should be able to find them on cars and vans also. could also try returning the computer you bought to buy new parts for the ignition system.

I think that's what I'm going to have to do. I never liked computers in cars anyway (too much to go wrong)

I finally gave up and took it to the shop yesterday. The shop owner worked for dodge for 20 years so he should be able to figure it out fairly easily. So far he's decided that the comp isn't letting the coil get a ground but he hasn't found out why yet. He was going to the dealer to get the factory manual for it today so I should know something soon.

Well even the mechanic can't find ANY diagrams or books on this system after a week. I talked to him today, and he agrees with wolfie that I should just swap in the old style electronic system. I'm going to hit some local boneyards and see if I can find an 80's corp vehicle to pull the engine harness out of. I know I shouldn't need the whole harness, just the ign module and ballast resistor plugs, but better safe than sorry. The parts store said they'll return the comp and swap me even for a vac advance dist, so all told I should only have to buy the module and the resistor new. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. Thanks for all the help you've given me so far.

you won't have to buy the module and resister new if you can get them with the wiring harness.

I could get them with the harness, but knowing my luck they'd be bad. Since I've replaced everything else already, I'd feel better knowing they're new as well. Plus those parts are somewhat cheap anyway, so a little prevention should be a good thing.

I managed to find a 4 pin mod., 2 pin res. system from an 83 van for 10 bucks. The module from the van was trashed but luckily I nabbed the resistor with the wiring since it seems the parts store can't get one. They can only get 4 pin with screw on terminals but not 2 pin with spade terms. They returned the comp and swapped me for a vac adv dist, so all that's left is the wiring.
