Default brake rotors and bearings

i went to the good local parts store to pick up the rotor that i had ordered earlier today and guess what? it is not the right rotor. i brought in the bearings and they looked at them and they say the bearings are for an 8 stud rotor. they ordered me the other rotor they had listed and i am hoping it will fit but it don't make sense. i was wondering if anyone knew anything about this. the build date from what i can read is 04-81. i was wondering if the parts i need may be from an 80?

I built my short box using 2 different trucks, one was a 1/2 ton (5 stud rotors)the other was 3/4 ton (8 stud rotors) I lowered my truck so I spent along time looking at the spindles hoping to figure out a way to somehow make drop spindles......long story short.....both the 1/2 ton and the 3/4 ton had the same wheel bearings......this may just be a cover up story on their part for making a mistake?
I think you will get the correct parts this time.

no. i doubt they would have made a mistake. they went with what the computer said should be on my truck and it was wrong and they told me if they looked a the part number on the bearing they could try figure out the right rotor. in there computer there is a rotor for a 3300lb axle and then one except 3300lb axle. in the computer it don't specify the differences between them. from the info they have in the computer they almost seem like identical rotors. i am hoping the new work. from what i have seen on rock auto i think the one with 3300lb axles is the one i need. the except 3300lbs ones where used from 77-81 and the the 3300lbs where used from 80-84.

Yes, I remember thats what my 3/4 ton was 3300lb, and it was the same bearings as the 1/2 ton.....the 1/2 ton was a 1982, the 3/4 ton was a 1986 to confuse the issue even more...

i just got back from the good parts store and everything seem to fit the 3300lb rotors perfectly. so i guess i got a 3300lb front end.
