If the vibration is occurring in neutral it isn't the slip joint.

charlie; Why would you eliminate the slip joint as the problem? The slip joint is still rotating even in neutral when the truck is moving. Neutral would only eliminate the drive train from the tranny forward. To bad it is not a 4x4 so that he could hit the problematic speed with the rear shaft removed.

yes seal,i believe it to be a rotating part,as long as it is spinning its still there regaurdless of neutral,od or 3rd gear etc.
does anyone know how far the slip yoke(output) should be sticking out of the trans?? just thinking?? engagement on the spline have something to do with the play??
also i wish it was 4x4,but dont need it here in TX.(traded in my 4x4 hemi)
im just thinking of all senerios. thank you guys

Brain fart!! I assumed he meant the truck sitting still and revving the motor in neutral.
I know the first three letters in assumed. LOL

well i started looking further into this shake/vibration,since i am starting to recover from my surgery. i jacked it up and just started checking everything, did find pass side wheel bearing loose, even though i just put new rotors, wheel bearings on june 25. the problem with the wheel bearings was,i used ORIELLY AUTO PARTS their own brand, rotors, bearings, i guess poor quality cause i tried re adjusting the wheel bearings to spec. according to factory repair manual, and they were still loose.
so i bought all new bearings, races, seals and started over. i went with all NATIONAL bearings, races, seals and all is perfect. this was some of the shake/vibration,now its good up to 60 mph. nice and smooth.
above 60 mph the shake/vibration still there, tomarrow i will take it to get a new slip yoke put on and rebalanced.
i have found that the slip yoke laterial movement(play) should only be .010. well i would say i have a good 1/16 of an inch, so i am guessing that is way to much. its the only thing left that i could find, that 3 shops and 2 dealers cant. thank you

well to top it all off i found the gear selector shaft leaking,it was just changed by the dealer on july 1st. and also a motor mount they put in is not in straight. OMG!! they charged me like $460. to do the motor mounts and that seal. i guess i have to stop by there tomarrow also, and give them a peice of my mind. i also would have repaired this myself but i was unable to do so at the time. a**hole dealers, never will i take anything to them again,i never did and i always said i never would take anything to get repaired anywhere, but under certain circumstances i was pressured to do so. i know,i know it seems like i am a complainer but no one can do their job wright and i just keep getting screwed over. what else can i say.
people helping people on all the dodge sites, its great. at least everyone on here tries to help all. thanks too all

well checked some more things out sat. morn. i keep finding the front wheel bearings, have some play. went by the factory repair manual when i put them in,ie-spin the rotor while torqing the nut to spec. then back off, then finger tight. went from cheaper bearings to national wich are better, still seem to get play in them. what gives?? spindles??
also does anyone know what the rear axle end play{in and out} should be on a 9 1/4 in. rear.?? i cant seem to find any info on end play, just know a lot of these rears have end play. should play be there?? reason why i ask this is,when driving on highway @65mph,get shake/vibration,when it is windy out, seem to be less sometimes not there when its calm outside??? thank you

just going to live with the shake/vibration for now, even though its bothersome. eventually i find what it is.
tightened wheel bearings again,no play in them at all seems a little better, but not where it should be. taking a break for now. thank you

From the start I suspected the spindles. But too many other things fit so well I just kept quiet. I hope you get this figured out, it's been a long time since this started and I understand the frustration that comes with unknown problems bring
