Grille blackouts...anyone?
did mine with a can of krylon direct to plastic textured flat black paint. i think it looks tuff as nails. anyone else do this? i'm looking for a turn signal cover, got a hood ornament on the way...and am searching out the most perfect liscense plate...
i did something similar to my 87 i had a few years back. i sanded the grill and headlight buckets, painted them with black flexible bumper coating, then taped them up and painted the main cross bars with silver flexible bumper coating. similar to the factory look but way nicer.
looks good good luck

After I hit a deer a few years back I ordered a new grille and it came in w/ everything silver. I painted it back to the way it came on mine stock, part silver, part black. Looks best like this in my opinion.
both ways it looks good. with how much chrome is on the trucks it would look funny if you blacked out the grille and around the head light. my 81 on the other hand you could probably get away with it because you have a piece of aluminum separating the headlight bezels from the grille.
