Grille blackouts...anyone?

Cool Grille blackouts...anyone?

did mine with a can of krylon direct to plastic textured flat black paint. i think it looks tuff as nails. anyone else do this? i'm looking for a turn signal cover, got a hood ornament on the way...and am searching out the most perfect liscense plate...

the turn sig. cover is the whole headlight bezel assy. most auto parts stores should be able to get you an aftermarket one for cheap or a wreckin yard for a good used one

i did something similar to my 87 i had a few years back. i sanded the grill and headlight buckets,painted them with black flexible bumper coating,then taped them up and painted the main cross bars with silver flexible bumper coating. similar to the factory look but way nicer.

JMHO: I like the silver look better than a hole in the wall.

After I hit a deer a few years back I ordered a new grille and it came in w/ everything silver. I painted it back to the way it came on mine stock, part silver, part black. Looks best like this in my opinion.

both ways it looks good. with how much chrome is on the trucks it would look funny if you blacked out the grille and around the head light. my 81 on the other hand you could probably get away with it because you have a piece of aluminum separating the headlight bezels from the grille.

i took mine out, painted it all nice, got plastic gutter guard, painted it silver an used baclk zip ties to hold it on...looks good to this day..

These trucks looks good guys. How does the grills look up close? What kind of paint did you guys use and how did you get it ready to paint?

i used rustolem semi gloss on mine..and cheapo silver pait for the gutter guard...scuffed it up with a sctochbrite pad
