Default Twin Turbo 318

Ok so I know I am going to get **** about I should get a larger engine but let me just say that this one has sentimental value and I plan on keeping it.

Ok now that, that's out of the way. Does anybody know how I would go upon installing twin turbos on a dodge 318 thats carbeurated. While I am fixing up my truck I thought I might as well put some more power into her before I am done.

Edit:
If I end up doing the TT design then I am going to be running fully forged internals as well.

Without doing major engine modifications that would include dropping the compression ratio a 318 will not be able to handle a twin turbo setup. What is your budget for this modification?

This will be a multiyear project so almost any amount is within budget. My hopes would be 10k or lower but a little above would be fine.

Sounds like you have the money. Why do you want to go the turbo route to more power as there are other more reliable routes for more power? I personally would contact a racing engine shop for further guidance on this build. I am not sure that the parts you will need are even available for the 318 as it was never really considered a great platform for turbos.

If I had that kind of money for the power plant I would look at a stock LS-7 or LS-8 to get a reliable 475-500HP.

The reason I want to go the turbo route is that it was my uncle's truck before he died and he was always into that kind of thing. It is kind of a promise that I made when the truck came my way. I'll try and find some shops around here that specialize in this kind of thing. Thanks for your help.

Have you seen the remote turbos from Squires Turbo? I've heard a lot of skepticism, but I've never ever seen one to judge it for myself.

Good luck with the build. I'd love to do that myself, but I have to wait at least until I have a cleaner truck, better job, and I'm out of school. And chances are, I'll have forgotten about it by then!

May be a good candidate for 360 heads. Us normally aspirated folk don't do it without mods because they drastically drop compression on a 318. But with forced induction it may be a good way to go.

I'll look into all the options before I start to build her, I'm not sure about whether or not I am going to go for the remote turbos because I am thinking I will like the look of them sitting in the engine bay. As for the 360 heads i'll take a look at those as well before I start building her up. Its going to be a long project and I'm not sure whether body work or the drive train will be first in line yet. Thanks for all the help everybody and when I start to get the project going I will post pics up.

the easiest way about it would be dropping compression by using the 360 heads and a 4 barrel intake. you will need a 4 barrel intake though but i believe it is either paxton or Vortech that makes an enclosure that goes around a carb for adding a centrifrical super charger to a carbed engine. maybe you could use something like that to get the boost to the carb, add a Y pipe between the turbos on the compressor side to feed into the enclosure, You may want to consider using a carb intended for a super charger application as well. It wont be cheap for any of those parts but if you are doing this as a long term build at least there are some options parts wise.

Edit: Here is the unit i was thinking of its made by Vortech
