Check your grounds. Jump from a good battery directly to the starter and see if it turns over normally.

thank you for your fast response. I have jumped from a good battery, and I checked the ground as well. I jumped from a god battery in a running rig to the starter and this did not seem to change anything. I have read about computers and crank sensors and I this point I am lost. I have always worked with good connection + good starter + good battery = good crank. BUT...

does it get any easier to start after it has been running for a bit? i don't know exactly where you live but with all this cold weather my starter is starting to get slower. i have thought about upgrading to a compact starter but i am going to wait for the current starter to die first.

If you are going straight to the starter with both jumper cables you have eliminated everything but the starter, the transmission, and a drag in the engine itself. If you are sure the starter is OK try turning the engine using the crankshaft dampener bolt to check for a dragging engine. You should be able to tell. Are we dealing with an auto or manual trans?

Default Don't give up on me I'll try anything

its a manual trans. Having not attempted to turn it before I am not sure how hard it should be to turn it over by hand. I tried and it was not easy but it went. Tried jumping to the starter again with no luck. I even bypassed the ing relay still nothing. All of this adds up to drag but it was running so good when it ran last recent tune up oil change all that good stuff. Other than not starting right now there has been no other indications of a problem with the truck. Man this sux.
As for the starter it is used but it bench tested fine unfortinatly so did the one I just took out. Is there a way to tell? The auto part store said a bench test is fine to see if the starter spins but no way to load test it.

thought about it I really have and I may have to but, I am in an apt parking lot with speed bumps and no way to get it back up the little hill if it doesn't go.

If the starter has not been load tested you do not know if it is OK or not. Just a spin test doesn't tell you much. I have had many starters that spin great but don't have the torque to turn an engine over. Most starter/alternator shops can test one properly. Worn brushes and burnt solenoid plunger contacts are the usual culprits.

i think I got this taken care of. I got a much bigger truck to jump me and it turned over. Did not start but I am getting some starter fluid in it now. I guess new bigger battery and some new terminals for good messure. It was suggested that I get a "line booster" any Ideas on price or how to do that?
