Default Interior options for my 81?

Ok i have the Custom SE model which is the bare bones stripper model. It needs a new column due to a theft attempt when the previous owner had it. More on that in a moment. Now my question is besides the parts themselves what will be required to be able to install the plastic trim panels from the upper end model trucks? Is it simply a matter of getting ahold of the pillar trim panels and just drilling holes for the mounting screws? Just wondering if it is really that simple or not..Though honestly i do like the bare bones look since it reminds me of my old D100.

Now as for the steering column, What columns can i use in this truck? I know there is an 86 power ram in the local yard that i can get the column from for $50 but my concern is if the wiring is all the same between the 81 and the 86? From what i read on the 12volt.com the wiring colors match up just hoping the plugs do as well so i can literally drop out the damaged column and bolt in the replacement.

Thanks in advance guys!

On the column just look at the plugs on both units and compare them. On the trim panels you can use self taping screws like the factory.

from what i remember about my 2 trucks is the plugs on the bottom of the steering column look the same. on my 81 the colors on the wires coming from the steering column do not match the factory wires but i am pretty sure my 81 use to be standard and someone replaced the steering column.
