It's the only 4spd Dodge used from the 70's up to 93. It's what they called a wide ratio trans, but most people would consider them a granny 3 spd.

If it's the original 4spd trans, it should be an NP435. Is the reverse up by first? If so, that is the only trans to have that shift pattern.

Does it have internal or external shift linkage. The A833 with OD is external and the NP435/445 are internal. This might help.

Sorry it took a while to get back to you Tex. The pic I sent was an NP435 4 spd trans that was the most common. But being that yours is a Forestry truck maybe it is the HD model supposedly used for V8's primarily. Here is a pic of an A833 and a write up for it just in case.

man why do we love these trucks they are super addicting, i have the np435 its doesnt look like the a338. I have to get the timing right i stoped a oil leak today with gasket sealer.
