if u scroll up look at the pics...the hood that isnt on my truck is a birdbath....why do they call it that? well look at it...it holds water lol..hince the name

i love them since i first learned about them a month ago...an i HAD to have one...

and heres pics on my latch modifcation..cut a hole..drilled welds...mocked up...welded...then tested...

this is the hardest part people dunno how to do..again this is an 86 truck, with a 78 hood...these pics should explain most things

and heres the finished(almost) product...also with the 78 thinner bumper

i believe he is refering to the dips/indentations on the hood that hold water when it rains. they fill up with water and every time you open your hood the water dumps out on your dist. cap and wires and collects moisture, and makes it run like crap. if this happens the fix is use PERMATEX DIE-ELECTRIC tune up grease on everything ie.. cap, rotor, wire connections, and even a lite coat inside the cap on the contacts.
thank you

Not to get sidetracked but is your truck an LE? Looks like you have all the same trims and mouldings mine did til I stripped it.

Not to drag up a dead thread or anything, but this gives some good background. I have a chance to get a birdbath hood for dirt cheap tomorrow. So do you HAVE to use the old cowl, or is is just a little "off" if you go with the newer one?
