Default Leaf spring hanger - which one?

I discovered a rust hole on the rear-rear driver's side spring hanger on my truck, so it needs replaced. The question is, which one do I need? I see ones with 3/4 and 5/8 inch spring eye bolts for sale online. But the bolts on my truck holding the spring to the shackle, and the shackle to the hanger are both bigger than my lug nuts, which if I recall are 7/8 inch.

This is what i'm looking at. http://www.autoandtrucksprings.com/p...-1686-158.html

They also sell one that uses a 3/4 inch bolt. Does the new, smaller bolt just replace the larger older one, with different bushings being used?

Also, mine is attached to the frame with carriage bolts, not regular hex heads as pictured in the link.

Or is the size they specify for the shaft, not the head of the bolt?

your d250 should be 5/8 in spring eye bolts, just measure the thickness of the bolt on the spring eye with a caliper.my d150 has 1/2 bolts.
i ran into that problem years ago with my 78 d150,bought new rear main leaf springs, they had 5/8 in eye bushings in them so i just drilled out the spring hanger to 5/8,and put in the bigger 5/8 in bolts.

Ok. Thank you. You are correct in saying that they were 5/8. How was it to get the old hanger off? Do you remember if it is actually held to the frame by carriage bolts, or am I looking at huge rivets?

FYI, it has just been proven possible to patch spring hangers and not have the truck collapse on your head.

ok they are usually held on by large rivets, grind off or drill out, then use grade 8 or higher bolts. good luck

I opted not to replace it. I just welded on some fresh metal for the rust to eat.
