Anything can be done, with enough time and money. I'd find a Fullsize SJ Jeep wagoneer and pull the 6 Lug Dana 44 out of it, and use leafsprings to mount it to the frame up front. find a 4x4 Dak and pull the tranny/Tcase (make sure it's the right one) and put it in yours. Then have the driveshaft built. Its very doable, but a big project.

Thanks for the response, it does sound like a big job, to big for me... any idea how long it would take a garage to make the switch? are we talking one day or a week? thanks

i don't think a garage would take on a job like that unless they where a shop that where big into custom work. i think there could be a lot of legal/insurance issues with a normal shop trying to do something like that.

If you are serious about this, look for any kind of automotive fabrication shop, particularly one specializing in 4x4 customization. Having a shop do it will cost LOTS of $$$, and if they had everything they thought they needed beforehand, it might take as SHORT as a week. expect longer, because issues ALWAYS arise.

The other way to do this, that i just thought of, would be to buy a 95ish 4x4 Dakota, and swap the body's around. Do it successfully and you'll have a 2wd truck left over to sell.

No I did not. To the OP:

Forget about all of my previously posted flapjack.
