92 Dodge w150 stalling, possible fix
Well, I think i found the problem with my 92 W150 stalling... I couldn't find anything that worked in the forums so i just went trouble shooting. I hope this helps someone... I replaced the ECM and didn't have to because It stalled after replacing it.. The truck would stall at any time. Last time it stalled i was driving 60mph on the freeway... But it would always start up a few min later. Anyway.. here is the fixer... The main plug that goes into your ECM behind the battery on the fender is ever so slightly working loose... When one or more of those pins inside the plug lose connection then your truck shuts off immediatly. Check by holding the wire harness (with the truck idleing) and pulling it away from the ecm just a little. hold the harness right next to where it plugs into the ecm.. If the truck stall when you pull it away then there is your problem.. It's working loose while your driving.. In my case, The main bolt wasn't holding the plug all the way into the ECM.. I used big wire ties to hold the harness snugg to the ecm.. So far so good. If your going to try to tightnen the bolt in the plug to the ecm then check to see if it's tight first.. Mine was tight already and i snapped the threads off... They are plastic... My buddy said you can take a long bolt and run it all the way through the back of the ECM and snugg it up that way... If mine stalls again thats what i will do. Hope this helps somebody out there...
