New user cam question
Hello and thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I recently purchase a used 318 out of a 1988 one ton van with low miles. My plan is to rebuild-refresh it, get rid of the TBI, install a performer manifold and 600cfm 4bbl carb, and put the motor in my 1988 5th Avenue. My question is, what are the stock cam profiles of this engine and are they the same as the cam used in passenger cars? Logic tells me this motor may already have a RV type cam but I would like to confirm it. By the way, the 5th has already had the lean burn removed and has electronic ignition.
Thanks

i don't think it would come from the factory with a rv type cam. the cam should probably give you more torque than the stock engine that was in the car since cars don't need as much torque to get moving a a big vehicle.
Mopar has not used "solid" lifter cams since the 60's.
Mopar introduced the roller cam in the 318's in cars in 1984 or 85, in 318 trucks in 1988 and in 360's in 1989.
