Yes I did have it hooked up. I wondered that, but if it's not hooked up when you set the timing, then hook it up when you drive it, won't the timing be off?

i think that is the point. usually your vacuum decreases as your throttle opens so the timing would jump to where it was set without the vacuum line hooked up which i think would advance the timing.
