Default NP2500 and 5.2 Magnum

I’m in the process of updating my ’89 truck (4WD) with a rebuilt ’92 5.2 Magnum. The 3.9 V6 that’s in the truck is mated to a NV535 (NP2500) 5 spd that is less than ideal for the new motor. I understand it’s a light duty tranny, meant for I4’s and pre-Magnum V6’s. Still, until I can find a NV3500 w/4WD tail piece, I need to use the NV535. If I’m easy on it maybe it’ll hang in there for a while. That’s my plan, but I have a couple of questions. First, the 5.2 needs a flywheel and I’m wondering if I buy a mid-nineties 5.2 flywheel, will the NV535 clutch housing bolt up to it (without redrilling)? I know I’ll have to notch the bellhousing for the position sensor, but that shouldn’t be a problem. Also, when I do find a NV3500, will I need to change mounts or alter driveshafts?

Thanks HeyYou. I was reading 2nd gen posts and forgot where I was. It's worse than that actually - my truck is a Dak. My first post here and I screw it up.

i don't see why the trans or current flywheel would not bolt right up since the since the 5.2 and 3.9 are almost identical except for the 100hp difference.

It would bolt up, but the 5.2 uses a crank position sensor that reads a tone ring on the flywheel. The '89 flywheel doesn't have the tone ring, so I know I have to get hold of a 92-99 5.2 flywheel. I read somewhere that the crank-to-flywheel bolt pattern changed after '99.

What would help me greatly is if someone had access to a NV535 clutch assembly and could measure the distance from any one mounting hole directly across the center to the opposite hole, center-to-center. It should be about 11 inches, I think. I could compare that to the holes drilled into the stock 5.2 magnum pressure plate, once I get my hands on one of those.

Does anybody have access to a New Process 2500 (New Venture 535) pressure plate assembly? I really need the above measurement.

Never mind. I don't know the numbers still, but it appears the clutch assemblies are not the same size.
