So when I bought my 77 360 to put in my truck the tranny came with a fluid level sending unit in the dipstick. It came out of an RV I was told. Does anyone know where I could get a gauge for this?
i am kind of lost. do you mean dipstick? if so your old transmissions dipstick and tube should be the same but you might have to get a new seal for it.
It is a fluid level sender. It is used in the aircraft industry apparently. You might want to contact these folks for a gauge to match it if you want to try to keep it.
This really makes me question the integrity of the transmission. The only reason I could think of to put a fluid level sending unit in a transmission was if it leaked like a sieve.
The OP hasn't said anything was wrong. Maybe a previous owner worked on airplanes and tried to update the trans with a fluid level gauge that was replaced on an aircraft. In the aircraft industry parts are changed out on schedule even if the work fine.
