Default swapping engines

i jus got a older d150 with a carb on it with 35000 miles and i have always wanted to have a card on my truck so could i do a swap to efi to carb then i can do a swap to my w150 right? people on this forum said that i need to do to much work to get my efi to carb at it sits in the truck right now so i have been on the lookout for a older dodge and i have found one that was given to me and i was wondering what do i need to do to take the engine and put my tranny from my efi to the carb i dont think that my tranny is electronic controlled because i have vacuum likes going to my tranny from the intake manifold and i have like 5 lines going to it for shifting i think. so could i keep my gauges from the efi or would i have to take the hole gauge cluster from the d150 and put it in my w150... hope it wasnt to confusing for u guys

thanks,
cam

what years are the 2 trucks? should be a fairly easy swap. i am pretty sure all the dodge sensors are pretty compatible with each other but if you don't want to take a chance you can use the ones from the tbi engine.

There is no vacuum controls on a dodge tranny.
The 4 wheel drive does have vacuum controls.

i would say if you currently have a 93 you are going to loose power if you swap engines with a carbed truck i wouldn't do the swap unless there was something seriously wrong with the engine.

well i wasnt going to keep it stock i was going to build the motor and put forged crank, pistons, connecting rods all that good stuff.. so i dont think that i would lose power???? nd for a carb i have 2 rodchester 650 4 barrel double pumpers but was prob going to put one on just so that i have some kind of fuel economy sorry for my late reply i was busy with school work...

thanks,
cam

i think unless you put a lot of money into the engine you will lose power. according to the dodge ram page on Wikipedia in 93 the 318's had 230hp as apposed to the carbed ones that had about 140hp. those parts would have 90hp to make up at which point would it be better to put the money into the 318 that is already in the engine to make even more power.

you could carb it or you could get something like megasquirt which is an independent fuel injection system that can be custom tuned for whatever you need. might be able do Harland Sharp 1.7 RR's, 50mm Throttle Body and one of those fancier intakes without the stock computer complaining. this guy is putting out 290RWHP, 375RWTQ with some of these mods plus a turbo.
