1985 dodge ram 100
I got it partially fixed for some reason it gets a good ground every now and then and then sometimes it doesnt. Im just gonna replace the whole ground wire. Also I have a leaking fuel line. Do I have to run metal lines back again or can I run rubber and replace all the metal ones. Also has anyone ever bought the whole steering shaft replacement for a 1st gen dodge. Or should I just buy the little rebuild kit that you can get for the shaft thats on it.
As for fuel lines I do not know.
As for the steering shaft, I do and have changed it myself.

I have a couple pictures of the shaft in that thread.
Its a Borgeson steering shaft. Link: http://www.borgeson.com/xcart/catalo...p-1-c-109.html
Much better than the stock shaft with the coupler. Rebuilding you current one is a waste of time and money IMO. The Borgeson replaces the coupler with a U-joint. So you getting tighter steering. Its pretty easy to install although I would suggest having someone else to help just because its nice to have someone to hold the steering wheel when you are tightening bolts and just to hold the shaft itself when you put them in.
I have only had it on for about a month now but so far very pleases with it. Worth the money. Its a pretty popular shaft too. If you search around, youll find quite a few people use them.

Okay I will probably break down and spend the money for the shaft. Also I have all lmy lights grounded good and they are working fine but still no reverse lights I found a sensor on the tranny that the wire to the reverse lights hook up to. one side of the sensor is hot and the other terminal still isn't hot even when the trans is in reverse. Is that sensor what is causing me the headache. Also is there anywhere I can order the Borgeson shaft but for less.
This is as cheap as I found the shaft and free shipping.

after you put it in your cart when you go to check out there is a coupon box where you can enter the coupon.
as far as back up lights go if there is power at the neutral safety switch with key in the run position then the problem has to be between the neutral safety switch and the ground connection for the light. with the key in the run position and the truck in reverse you should check to see if there is power at the light socket. if you got power then you may have a lot of corrosion at one of the ground slices.

I don't get power at the socket on the reverse lights and I have power at the safety switch. So do I have a broken wire somewhere. I put the test light on the wire coming out of that safety switch and there isnt any power there.
