Default Idle Prob with an 84 d150 with slant 6

I recently bought an 84 dodge d150 with a slant six for $400 as a rat rod/hot rod project... i wanna keep the slant 6 in it but the kid said he had the carb rebuilt and the guy that did it took the auto choke off and put a manual one in and never tuned the carb... now it idles really rough and will die if you dont keep giving it a lil gas... drives fine on the high way and once yur going but i would like to know how to fix this... should i buy a new carb with the auto choke on it... or can i replace the auto choke... or how do i tune it? im an auto body student and dont know a whole lot about motors just the basics

Sounds like if he didnt tune the carb then start with adjusting the idle curcuit.
What carb is on it?
You can try posting this on http://www.slantsix.org/forum/index.php the engine section, if your not able to get it it figured out here.
