Grille Guard write-up
Today I finally decided that I wanted to build my own Grille Guard. I looked around at people who had made bumpers, racks, slider, etc. But NOT the guard so I built mine and if you care or need it here is a Write-Up
1.) Take measurements to determine how tall and wide.
2.) How do you want it to look? What material can you, or do you have to use
--- I wanted to weld mine to the front of my bumper, so when I make a bumper I can re-purpose the grille guard.
3.) Make a template that matches your bumper so that it will match the face
4.) layout the total height of, layout where the cross bars will go, and the bumper face using your template
5.) i wanted my to slope back, so I went from the outside front edge on the highest cross bar and marked back to the top of where bumper will be.
6.) Think about it, double check everything, walk away, check again.
7.) Cut the "swords" out.
8.) Layout where they go, and tack them on
9.) measure between them and cut two cross bars out to fit.
10.) tack them on and check to make sure they are square and spaced properly
11.) take it down by cutting the tacks on the bumper and get comfortable to weld it.
--- And the rest is obvious. Paint it, or not, put it on and you are on your way. I used 2" Sch. 80 Pipe and 3/16" Flat Stock. It weighs 55-60lbs MAX

ya, couldn't get them to load on this thread. But, I put a few up on my profiles album. Pretty stout for being as light as it is. Next is going to be either a tire gate, or bed mounted tire holder.
