Default Front end really bouncing around...especially when applying brakes

I know I have a bad upper ball joint on the drivers side. I have had it aligned but this think is really bouncing around bad. It feels like it is wobbling. anything over 25 is dangerous to drive. I have jacked up the front tried to move the tires up and down by hand but it is very tight. having both wheels off of the ground i can move the tire in and out slightly but I wouldn't think that would account for a severe wobble. Any thoughts guys and girls? Thanks in advance.

Trying to trouble shoot a problem without first fixing the known problems is pure guess work and not the best way to go. Fix all known problems before you go any further. Bad ball joints and loose wheel bearings can cause wobble but not bouncing. Bouncing and wobbling are two totally different symptoms and point to very different problems. Which is it doing?

Default The Solution.....

Turns out that I had two bad front calipers. They were stuck and when I reached a speed of something over 35 the calipers were holding the pads (old) tight enough on the rotors that they were oscillating and causing the wobble. I did put new bearing and races on the driver side front and re-packed the bearing on the passenger side. It wasn't until I put new pads on that the problem became obvious when the calipers closed on the new pads the truck wouldn't go forward without a lot of gas pedal applied. Got home are driving and the wheels were hot. Replaced the calipers and now she lays down like a dream even though I have yet to replace the Ball joints(on closer inspection they seem okay) or the tie rod end on the passenger side (it definitely needs replacing). Thanks for your comments. See ya on the boards!!

Have you replaced your rotors too? Glad you got it figured out.

Default The Solution.....

I have not replaced the rotors yet. Is there a difference between a 3000lb rotor and 3600lb rotors? I found out that the outer bearing is used on both the 3000 and 3600lb spindles but the inner bearing is 3600lb spindle bearing. Strange....
