Default power chip for a 91?

So is there a power up chip available for my truck and will it do anything? I hear they work pretty well for stock motors....is there one available for the 1991 Ram 150 with the 318?

i have never seen one. between 88 and 95 there is not really anything you can do to the computer. i think it you want to do any modification you would would have to get an aftermarket fuel injection controller.

I saw one listed as fitting the 91 from this place but I don't know how or if they work. I am sending a email to them asking for particulars.

the description they give is not particular to this chip box I am sure, as there is NO WAy you are going to get 75hp more out of a stock motor from a tuner.....

i wouldn't waste my money on one. i don't trust any of those people that claim you can gain power by giving the computer false signals.

I also have an 04 Focus and it kicked butt on that. Gave me some real seat of the pants adds since it did the thermo, and corrected the FI for my altitude and two little mods I have to the car. ZI GUESS I got maybe 20hp from it, but the throttle response was worth it.

The 04 Focus is a bad example in this case because it is an OBD2 equipped vehicle. Our 1st Gens aren't. I believe that chip will do very little but I look forward to you telling us how it works in a 1st Gen. It is your money.

Being cheap at 69 clams it is worth a try IF they make one. I did see one specifically (or so they say) for these trucks that claims 15~25hp and 15ft of tq which is way more believable. They also suggest using a K&N or some freer flow air filter.

I think JET makes one. From what I recall, the gains are basically in the fact that it requires you to use a colder thermostat, then it can push the timing a little more. The sad truth about the TBI motors is that there isn't really much you can do with them in the way of power except to drive them until they poop, and then do a magnum swap.
