Default 1st gen shaker intake?

Has anyone fabricated a custom shaker-style intake for their first gen? i was thinking of ways to make my ride stand out from the other 75435743 1st gens i see on the road around where I live. I've done a google search, but nobody makes a shaker kit for our trucks. Just curious. I know it can be done with enough sheet metal, welding wire and duct tape, but has anyone actually done it?

i have never seen one. i have seen universal kits but they seem ridiculously expensive for something you would have to modify it to work. if you do make one you should post some pics. i like the idea in theory but am not sure how to make it look good with the way the lines on the hood are.

Agreed with crazzywolfie.
What I was looking at doing with my '85 is a blower style hood scoop. I saw one on some local classifieds with one that looked like this one: http://www.jegs.com/i/Mr-Gasket/720/...98#moreDetails. In my opinion it looked pree sick and that might be what I go with. Not sure what all is involved with installing them though.

i thought one of those might be cool but not sure id it would look right on a truck. plus it would most likely spend all its time hiding under the hood unless you installed some awful big spacers. i know i have an adapter under my carb and a 4" filter on my carb and it still fits under the hood with room to spare.

you can also get them a bit cheaper on ebay

Those street scoops are pretty sick, but i wanted to stay true to the dodge heritage, since the shaker style was popular back in the 60s and 70s. i'm thinking it should be relatively simple to fab up a carb mounting base, but the real tricky part would be the top, finding a good match to the curves so it wouldnt look too funky. I thought about maybe turing the piece of the hood i'd cut out into the air cleaner top, but i think that might not look right

These guys do shaker hoods for 94 up Dodge trucks. Might contact them and see what they can do for you. If nothing else, you can get an idea what yours would look like.

The scoop I saw was mounted on top of the hood. Looked pretty good IMO, not sure how he rigged it up though. Came across this thread, thought it might be interesting.
