Unhappy 88 ram d250 electrical problems

I'm wondering if anyone has an idea on this one. My 88 D250 Ram has a brand new battery and starter and I have a battery gauge that i plug into my cigarette lighter because my in dash one doesn't read right it just stays at half even without a battery in. When it's just sitting it says 11.5 to 12.8. When I turn the key to accessory same thing but when I turn it to run my battery meter shuts completely out as well as losing all power in my truck. no horn no lights no nothing except my right blinker arrow lighting up. When I back the key off it will go back up to full power. What do you think is wrong and what's the best way to fix it?

Sounds like a bad switch or switch connector inside the column. You need to use a multi meter and a wiring diagram to further isolate the problem.

If the general wiring diagram I have is accurate there is a curved connector in the column that has 7 wires for the switch. I would check for power on the 14G DB, 14G BK, and the 20G GY/BK.
