Default 727 Question

I have a 1982 Dodge Ram W150 with a 318. My question is when the carburetor is all the way open, does the transmission kickdown have to go all the way back?

No it should not. If it does it can prevent full throttle operation and it will not shift when it is supposed to. The truck should shift into 3rd under light throttle between 20-30 MPH.
