Question on Replacing Wing Vent Window Seals
After tightening up the wing vent handle, water & air still comes in and now I am planning on replacing the rubber seal. The 1982 service manual discusses removing and replacing the glass and that seems complicated, but appears it must be done to replace the seal.
What is the best/easiest way to replace the seal? How do I get access to the lower screw? Does the door panel need to be removed to get access to the lower screw?
Thanks!

Yes. Remove the inner panel. Remove the upper screw. Lower the window and remove the door belt weather strip. Raise the window about 10 inches and remove the lower screw. Tilt the vent window assembly rearward and lift it out.
Thanks! I was hoping I did not need to remove the inside panel. I hate banging it back on, one of these days I get the feeling it will break. Fortunately I purchased new clips which help the panel go on smoother.
Where is the lower screw? Will it be obvious?
Thanks again!
Follow the window guide channel down. There is a bracket that will be attached to the channel. It will indeed be obvious. It does take some wiggling and pressure to get the vent window out. You may have to adjust the main window up or down.
Thanks Seal!
Update:
Wow, what a pain the you know what. I figured with a 70 degree day I would finally tackle this project. I ordered the window seals from 1A Auto. Unfortunately, after all the tugging, yanking and pulling, I put in the new window seal and it would not give me a good fit. Actually, it seemed to have a little bit of extra rubber and would not allow the window to close without yanking up the seal out of its groove. And it buckled around the circumference.
When you compare the old vs. the new you can see the differences, they are minor.
So, I put the old one back in.
Even though I ordered them a few months back, 1A Auto said they will refund me a check and even said I did not need to send them back. Great service. I like their videos too.
I will look around to see if I can find another pair or learn to live with the wind howling when I hit 60 mph and the water coming in when I drive it through the car wash.

I actually took it to the local dealer after I "installed" it and they looked at it and also compared it to the original and suggested I put the original back on since there were differences between the two.
No rush on finding another. I will give it a try again evenutally.
