timing issue need help

Default timing issue need help

I just put a new motor into my 88 d100 out of an 89 d100 and the timing seems to be off by 10 or so degrees after the disrtibutor is as advanced as poissble, i'm not too sure what to do about this. thank you in advance for the help

Did you remove the wires from the cap? If you put #1 wire on the wrong terminal to start with, even with the correct firing order, that would cause this.

In addition, are you following the proper procedure for checking the timing? Engine at operating temp then disconnect the coolant temp sensor then checking the timing...
