Default 1981 d150 questions

Hey everyone,
I bought an 81 d150 with the slant 6 in it and I am having a hard time getting it going, I am not sure what part is missing so it was hard to try to seach so I am hoping someone will post either the information or a pic. On the driverside of truck there are a few wires that look like they plug into something, one wire I know is for starter since I was able to turn motor over by touching it straight to the battery, the other connector has a few wires running to it and I was thinking maybe it is associated with the ignition but I really have no clue, they were disconnected when I got the truck. I was hoping for A pic of the wiring would be great, or atleast a name of whats missing, lol.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

You could post a pic of the connector or give the wire colors and describe the connector shape, number of pins/sockets in the connector, and/or the color of the connector. Some of us that don't have an 81 slant 6 might be able to help given that info.

I have an 85 slant 6 and couple times it wouldn't start was because of the ignition module, ballast resistor, the ignition module is a box with two bolts holding it to the firewall, and on that year it should be a 5 pin connector that goes on and then put a screw through it ,its on the drivers side right below where the wiring harness goes into the cab, they are grounded to the firewall and if you don't have a good ground the engine won't try to start, I've had 3 times where that box went out, usually if its bad it will get hot and melt the installation on the back of it, but I've had it happen once where it did t get hot it just went out, make sure you have a good ground, the ballast resistor is a white ceramic piece about 3 inches long with two terminals and I've had it go out on my inline and it wouldn't even attempt to start, that's where I'd look first, hope this helps.
