Default 4x4 transmissions

What year did the dodge trucks go away from the divorced transfercase and to the transfercase that bolts onto the transmission? Is there a 3 speed auto that a transfercase will bolt to?

1975 was the first year of the married transmission/transfer case in dodges. So, any 727 from '75-late '80s.

Are there any 904 that are like that or was it only the 727?

I don't know. Why do you want a 904? 727's are more common and are generally a better transmission.

For the lower gear set in the 904 and it consumes less power than the 727. A 904 can be built up to handle a lot of power.
